As Chief Investment Officer of Westover Capital Advisors, Chip Sawyer leads the firm’s investment strategy and research efforts. He works closely with private clients, endowments, and foundations to preserve and grow their assets, always with an eye toward helping them meet their long-term investment and wealth planning objectives.
Chip brings more than 25 years of investment industry experience to his role. Before joining Westover, he served as Principal Research Analyst at Tucker Capital Management in Durham, North Carolina, and as Lead Equity Trader at Jurika & Voyles, a multi-billion-dollar investment management firm in Oakland, California.
A Wilmington, Delaware native, Chip was raised in the community and attended The Tower Hill School and The Taft School before earning both a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Business Administration, with academic honors, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Chip holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation, one of the most respected and rigorous credentials in the investment profession. Awarded by the CFA Institute, it signifies a strong foundation in advanced investment analysis, portfolio management, and adherence to the highest ethical standards.
Outside the office, Chip is an avid Tar Heels fan who enjoys spending time on the squash court and golf course. He especially values attending UNC games with family and friends.
Chip is married and the proud father of six children. He remains active in the local community and currently serves on the Board of Directors of First State Squash and as Treasurer of the Board for Christ Church Episcopal Preschool.
