According to methodology provided by Plant-A Insights Group, more than 16,000 SEC-registered investment advisers were evaluated using data sourced primarily from Form ADV filings.
Firms were required to meet minimum eligibility criteria, including thresholds for assets under management, number of advisers and clients, SEC registration history, availability of portfolio management services for individuals, and the absence of specified disciplinary disclosures.
Eligible firms were scored using a quantitative model developed and applied by Plant-A Insights Group, with criteria applied consistently across all firms evaluated. Eligible firms were scored using , among other factors:
- Short- and long-term growth in assets under management
- Short- and long-term growth in number of clients
- Adviser expertise and client-to-adviser ratios
- Breadth of advisory and planning services offered
- Disclosed conflicts of interest, which reduced scores
A percentile ranking was calculated for each firm, and the top 1,000 firms were recognized as America’s Top Financial Advisory Firms 2026. The performance or quality of firms not included in the ranking is not disputed.
